At the MedCity INVEST conference at the Ritz Carlton in Chicago May 22-24, a panel will focus on violence against healthcare professionals. It’s an unfortunate trend that is on the rise, spurred by misinformation about the Covid-19 pandemic, vaccines for Covid-19, testing for Covid-19, culture wars over women’s health and trans healthcare, and disgruntled former staff and patients.
Here’s a description of the panel, which will take place on May 24:
Protecting health workers from violence
In April 2022, a survey of nurses found that 48 percent reported a small or significant increase in workplace violence, up from 30.6 percent in September 2021. What efforts are in place that can better protect health workers, whether they be doctors, nurses, or others? How can clinicians help patients who need mental health resources?
Moderator: Parth Desai, Principal, Flare Capital Partners
