Whenever people think of healthcare and Texas, all eyes turn toward Houston, home to the world’s largest medical complex with marquee names like MD Anderson Cancer Center.
To be slightly contrarian, we at MedCity News have chosen a different Texan city to be the new home for INVEST Digital Health — Dallas — with our first conference scheduled for September 28. Dallas has its own robust set of healthcare startups and the overall region is an emerging high-tech and life sciences hub. See the following from the Dallas Chamber of Commerce :
- $1.6B+ venture capital invested in Dallas-Fort Worth companies in 2021
- Dallas-Fort Worth has the 5th most high-tech jobs in the U.S. and
- 2nd most high-tech jobs added in the past five years
- Ranked #6 Emerging Life Science Cluster (CBRE)
So where else would we contemplate the future of health — and probe unexplored areas like the Metaverse in healthcare — except in Dallas?
Key to our decision to bring our conference to the region has been the unflagging enthusiasm and support of our gold sponsor — Health Wildcatters. The company is a Dallas-based healthcare accelerator founded in 2013 to address the need for a health innovation hub in the burgeoning Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex healthcare industry. In the past nine years, Health Wildcatters’ portfolio has grown to 77 startups. It has also raised more than $150 million cementing its position as a leading accelerator in the nation.
“We are delighted to be partnering with MedCity News to bring Invest Digital Health to Dallas and the Lone Star state,” said Hubert Zajicek, CEO of Health Wildcatters, in a statement. “There is an amazing amount of health innovation in our region and we think it is the right time to have this premier conference in Texas.”
Separately, MedCity News would also like to extend a big thanks to Biotech+ Hub at Pegasus Park, our platinum sponsor, for supporting INVEST Digital Health.
The agenda will address not only the future but also immediate concerns that innovators are grappling with: how to avoid pitfalls of machine learning and AI, how employers are innovating in healthcare and patients’ financial experience.
So who should come to INVEST? Broadly speaking, anyone interested in the future of healthcare should attend because every year we hope to explore something cutting edge. This year, we will paint a picture of what the Metaverse may look like in healthcare.
But more specifically, we are looking at how large employers and consumers/patients are ushering in change to the overall healthcare system. What are the issues that they are contending with? What are the success stories Here’s a preliminary agenda for the conference.
So mark your calendar for September 28 to attend INVEST Digital Health in Dallas and register today.
