Today is World Kidney Day, and Bloomington, Indiana-based medical device company Cook Medical is bringing awareness to chronic kidney disease (CKD) with a new campaign.
Kidney disease is considered a “silent killer” because nearly 70 percent of patients don’t show any symptoms in the early stages. According to a release, 200 million people globally are affected by CKD each year, and there is a very prominent presence particularly in China with 120 million people suffering from the disease.
Cook Medical is attempting to increase awareness and education about CKD, especially today. Because the disease is much more prevalent in Asia, the company is featuring its campaign on its independent healthcare blog Healthscope Asia.
Healthscope Asia worked with Dr. Angela Wang, Department of Medicine at The University of Hong Kong – Queen Mary Hospital to create educational infographics to help educate people on the condition.
