Healthcare entrepreneurs are an essential part of the innovation landscape and they play center stage at several of MedCity’s events. At MedCity INVEST Digital Health virtual conference, held in partnership with Medical Alley, digital health startups presented to judges across four tracks as part of the Pitch Perfect competition: Chronic conditions and value-based care; Tech to improve payer/provider efficiency; Employee benefits and Home health.

Cerestil Health has expertise in virtual care for seniors with cognitive impairment (e.g., dementia, stroke, Parkinson’s disease). Its digital health programs engage members with cognitive impairment through their family caregivers to improve family caregiver effectiveness. The programs also use predictive analytics to reduce hospitalizations and costs for members, and increase quality of life for caregivers and members.

Current Health developed an AI-enabled remote patient management platform to help deliver better, more proactive healthcare. Its FDA-cleared platform continuously monitors certain vital signs and augments this data with medical devices to capture a broad picture of human health and the patient’s symptoms. The technology is designed to help identify those at risk of disease and proactively alert physicians to potential issues, driving earlier intervention and treatment.

Lighter Health is a personalized, digital health and nutrition coaching intervention program designed to address chronic disease risk through the adoption of plant-based nutrition programs and clinically-proven health principles.

myBiometry is developing a platform to monitor/manage patients with chronic disease using biomarker data from proprietary sensors and ML to identify patients at risk of treatment failure. The company pairs this with clinical oversight, education and coaching to help patients to better manage their disease. The initial focus is asthma where treatment failure occurs in over 11.5 million U.S. patients annually. A single use, disposable sensor and device to track a clinically established biomarker of inflammation in breath is under development.
