Transcarent announced a new provider network, which seeks to help its employer customers provide their staff with access to high-quality, affordable care. The network includes 10 health systems — including Mount Sinai, Mass General Brigham and Intermountain Health.

ViewFi will power Transcarent’s orthopedic consult solution, which will be part of Transcarent’s surgery care services. Through Transcarent’s app, patients will be able to have a virtual diagnostic consultation with an orthopedic provider in less than two days.

Through the acquisition, Transcarent will gain access to 98point6’s AI-powered text-based technology, affiliated provider group and client base.

Transcarent recently announced a partnership with The Clinic by Cleveland Clinic, which provides second opinions from medical specialists via video visits. Now Transcarent members can access The Clinic’s services as a benefit, which means they won’t face any out-of-pocket costs in most cases.

Transcarent wants to transform the digital pharmacy benefit experience, enabling self-insured employers and their staff to make more informed choices.

There are currently 97 global digital health companies that are considered unicorns. But getting caught up with the idea of digital health unicorns isn’t very sustainable, according to Emilly Melton, managing partner at Threshold Ventures.
