Memory Health, the only supplement patented for the prevention and/or treatment of neurodegenerative disease, has been proven in another independent clinical study to show benefits for working memory and cognitive function in older adults. The study was conducted by scientists led by researchers Drs. Rebecca Power and John M. Nolan of the Waterford Institute of Technology, Mercer’s Institute for Successful Aging, University Hospital Ireland and the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland. Results were published in the Journal of Clinical Nutrition.

The study utilized the Memory Health supplement to test the product’s formula comprised of ω-3FAs (omega-3 fatty acids), carotenoids (lutein, meso-zeaxanthin, zeaxanthin) and vitamin E, with respect to its ability to improve cognitive performance. The double-blind placebo-controlled, randomized research study focused on cognitively healthy older adults who were randomly assigned to take Memory Health or a placebo during a 24-month period and were asked to perform working memory tasks. Study participants taking Memory Health outperformed those who were not taking the supplement, underscoring the importance of nutritional enrichment with the Memory Health formula in reducing cognitive decline.

In the 2021 Health IT Industry Outlook Survey, co-hosted by Stoltenberg Consulting and CHIME, more than half of health system CIOs deemed patient engagement as the industry’s top priority.  And, in recent research conducted for Convatech, nearly all nurses (96%) told survey administrators they do not have the time, education or resources to address the worst aspects of the patient experience for those with long-term health needs. Just over half said they need educational resources to share as part of patient education.

“We’ve seen a marked increase in demand for solutions designed specifically to advance patient engagement and education initiatives,” said Nir Altman, CEO of Equiva, a health relationship management (HRM) solution provider.  “We continually advance our technology to support efforts to improve outcomes by advancing digital health collaboration and decision-making across the care continuum.”

Altman said this concept is supported by Equiva’s mission — part of which states that “patients, loved ones, and healthcare professionals deserve a more equitable, less fragmented system where transformative technology yields powerful intelligence that promotes targeted care and wellness.”

With tens of thousands of interactions per day, Equiva’s HRM solutions have touched millions and millions of lives across 800-plus deployments nationwide, Altman stated. “Our customers rely on Equiva’s solutions to deliver targeted educational materials and health resources to inpatients, outpatients and individuals at home via devices such as tablets, mobile apps, digital signage, kiosks and more.”

KAID Health, which develop an artificial intelligence-enabled clinical analysis and provider engagement platform, has raised a $4.25 million Series A funding round. The financing was led by health IT investors, including Activate Venture Partners and Martinson Ventures. Boston Millenia Partners, Brandon Hull, Howard Landis, and KAID Health’s Board of Directors also participated. The new investment brings KAID Health’s total capital raised to $6.45 million. John Martinson and Dana Callow, of Martinson Ventures and Boston Millenia Partners, respectively, are now observers to KAID Health’s Board of Directors.

The company’s natural language processing Whole Chart Analysis solution integrates with the electronic medical records to identify high-value tactical care and coding interventions. The solution pushes identified gaps into the provider’s workflow, making it easy for them to intervene appropriately. At the same time, the system can financially reward providers for their timely completion of assigned tasks.
